In this post, I’m going to share the 26 best healthy habits to live a happy life.

When it comes to staying fit and healthy, you are always reminded to incorporate healthy habits into your daily routine. If you really want to live a happy and blissful life, then you must incorporate the best habits into your daily routine.

Luckily, I’ve listed some of these habits that you can add to your life.

1. Put God First

Thank God for everything you have. Remember, God always going to help you. God always blesses you, you just need to believe in yourself.

2. Do yoga or Exercise Everyday

It’s no secret but you need to do YOGA or Exercise every day. No matter how tight your schedule is, you must spend 1 hour daily for YOGA / Gym / or Exercise.

3. Drink Enough Water

According to the US National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, “the daily water intake is 3.7 liters for men and 2.7 liters for women.”

It can be more or less depending on your physical activities. For example, bodybuilders and athletes require more water than a person sitting in front of a desktop.

4. Walk 10,000 Steps Everyday

Walking 10,000 steps per day can reduce the risk of death and the effects of prolonged sitting.

It can help improve the health conditions such as type-2 diabetes

In studies, It has been found that if you walk less than 5,000 steps a day, your body is unable to burn fat for that day. And this excessive fat can lead to heart disease and diabetes.

So here you see why walking 10,000 walks every day is one of the few healthy habits you should adopt.

5. Read, Watch or Listen to Good Stuff Everyday

The human brain plays an important role in creative thinking and intelligence.

Whatever you read, see or hear can affect your thinking and intelligence.

If you choose bad things, it creates destructive and negative thinking that can lead to mental illness and is ultimately responsible for chronic illness.

That’s why you need to surround yourself with great things. And reading, listening, and watching great content enhances your creative thinking and intelligence.

It strengthens your brain and as a result, improves your mental health which ultimately enhances your physical health as well.

6. Get Up Early In the Morning

Waking up early in the morning can help you stay productive and healthy throughout the day.

The best thing about getting up early in the morning is that you can do more work than others in 24 hours.

This can be contradictory for night owls as they believe in working at the end of the day.

But the truth is that the human body is more productive in the morning. This means that you can finish more work in less time in the morning than at night.

7. Wash Your Hand Before Eating

People often forget to wash their hands resulting in the spread of germs and disease. Even if you don’t get sick, you can transmit hundreds of bacteria that could easily make your grandmother sick.

So hand washing is one of the few healthy habits that you should never ignore. At least now it can protect you from COVID-19 and other respiratory infections that cause diarrhea and pneumonia.

Note: Do not use hand sanitizers containing the excess amount of ‘Menthol’. (Learn more)

8. Eat Lean Protein

Protein is an important nutrient of a diet because it regulates blood sugar and is responsible for essential body functions such as tissue repair, muscle building, enzyme reactions, and more.

There are different types of protein depending on the fat ratio. And lean protein is one of these types.

Lean protein source usually contains low fat and high protein. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), lean protein sources have less than 10 grams of total fat and 4.5 gram or less of saturated fat per 100 grams.

So incorporating lean protein into your diet can help you lose weight and control cholesterol.

9. Sleep Well

According to https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/, Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety.

10. Eat Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are great sources of vitamins, minerals, fibers, and phytochemicals.

Consuming a good amount of vegetables and fruits helps in filling the lack of vitamins and minerals in your body.

Most importantly, these are low in fat and help you to reduce obesity, and lower your cholesterol and blood pressure.

And top of all, it lowers the risk of diabetes, stroke, and cancer.

11. Eat Slowly

I have practically found that eating slowly can help you lose weight and strengthen digestion.

I’ve been doing this for years and I can say with full confidence that eating slowly is one of those few habits that people ignore all the time.

Chewing your food 32 times before swallowing allows enzymes to absorb the potential nutrition from your food.

Ghrelin is a hormone that controls your appetite. It takes 20 minutes to alert your brain to stop eating.

Now even if you finish your lunch/dinner within 10 minutes, you may still feel hungry because your brain is not alert yet. As a result, overeating.

And due to overeating, your body needs to put in extra energy to digest more food which makes you lazy or inactive.

But if you eat slowly, you’ll take more time to finish the same amount of food. Ultimately, you eat less, and as a result…

  • Weight loss
  • Easy digestion
  • Easy absorption of nutrients

Sick of exercising, but still want to stay healthy and lose weight?  You need ‘VIOME ’; A health testing tool kit which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the individual’s gut biochemistry to provide insights into their overall health. The service gives customized food suggestions and custom-made supplements based on the test results. Viome translates insights from your body into personalized nutritional recommendations to help address the root cause of inflammation, biological aging, and chronic disease.

12. Give 30 – 60 Minutes to Yourself Everyday

Sometimes I sit alone in my dorm room and acknowledge myself. It is very relaxing.

A complete peace, no social media, no phone calls, no conversations. Just you and your conscience.

Trust in, it exposes your thoughts and beliefs. It helps you find your inner voice.

Most importantly, it strengthens your own beliefs and gives you the power to envision your dreams.

And you should consider it as one of the best healthy habits on the list.

13. Make Yourself Laugh

It is said that laughter is the cheapest medicine. And it is!

In fact, healthy laughter can reduce stress, strengthen your immune system and lower your blood pressure.

So don’t forget to laugh every day. And one of the best ways to do this is to watch a comedy show or joke with your funny friends.

14. Take Risks

Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg once said, “The biggest risk in this world is not taking a risk.”

Yet people often play small because the human brain is designed to keep away any obstacle.

But believe me, there is no passion to play small. As a result of doing this, you will settle for the ordinary.

Taking risks can help you achieve a lot in your life and you are more likely to challenge yourself to fight for your dreams.

15. Play Chess/Mind Games to Exercise Your Brain

With great adaptive capacity, the human brain is capable of processing hundreds of thousands of data every day.

And playing chess or other mind games can certainly improve the functioning of your brain and make it even more powerful adaptive software.

It stimulates your brain cells and improves your cognitive and strategic thinking. and ultimately helps you develop problem-solving skills.

Despite all, playing chess 3 – 4 hours a week can prevent Alzheimer’s, improve creative thinking, and increase IQ levels as well.

It’s better to have a healthy mind than a sedentary one.

16. Listen to a Motivational Speech before You Sleep

I am accustomed to listening to good thoughts every night. Because it removes me from negativity, reduces stress, and helps me sleep well.

Doing so releases the hormone dopamine which promotes positive vibes and happiness.

With this, you can empower your thoughts by incorporating this healthy habit into your daily routine.

17. Organize Your Local Landscape

The first and foremost thing I do every morning is to make my bed, arrange my clothes, and arrange whatever else is spread on my bed and floor.

It gives me a sense of accomplishment, and a little positivity, and increases the focus of my mind.

And this is a great habit of a productive person. You can do the same to increase focus.

18. Be Disciplined, Responsible, and Be Patience

A person with these three qualities can achieve anything in his life.

Although I am not very disciplined, I am responsible and patient. And because of these two qualities, I am able to perform the same task for a long time.

So here’s the thing, if you can stick to one thing longer, your chances of winning are higher.

19. Prepare Healthy Meal At Home

Do not eat outside food all the time as it contains unhealthy substances which can make your body sick.

Eating out daily can promote health problems including headaches, depression, acne, constipation, dental distress, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and more.

So why do you want to make illness your choice when you have another option to stay healthy? And that’s preparing a healthy meal at home.

20. Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day

Teeth are an integral part of our digestive system. They break the food into small pieces to digest it. Not only this, but they also adorn your face.

And brushing your teeth twice a day is one of the best healthy habits to keep your teeth clean and strong.

21. Take Deep Breathe Before You Sleep

This is another healthy habit that I have been practicing for over a year.

It helps me forget everything going on in my mind, reduces stress, and helps me fall asleep quickly.

You can practice this for 2-3 minutes every night before sleeping. It can help you live longer, sleep faster, reduce your risk of heart attack, and strengthen your respiratory system.

22. Don’t Take Pills Unnecessarily

We all need medicine because most of us are suffering from chronic diseases. But I know some of my friends and relatives who take pills for minor ailments like sleeplessness and headache.

Do you think it’s fine?

Excessive drug intake can lower your immune system because your body stops producing antibodies to fight off minor illnesses. As a result, your body becomes so fragile that it is unable to fight off even the smallest of ailments.

That’s why I suggest that you do not take pills unnecessarily but take them only when needed.

23. Add Extra Income Streams

Who doesn’t want to be financially free? Well, we all want to!

And why not, it enables you to buy food and pay monthly bills.

If you can somehow reduce your financial stress, you can definitely lead a healthy life.

And this can be done in many ways. You can start a big business, but for that, you have to work hard.

But if this is not assured for you, then you can add extra earning streams to reach your potential finances which can give you financial freedom and make you mentally and financially stable.

24. Finish Small but Important Task Early In the Morning

As I said, morning time is more productive than any other time of the day. And everything you do in the morning takes less time and energy.

And if you finish a useful task in the morning, it gives you a sense of accomplishment that encourages you to do more for the whole day.

It makes you productive but also keeps you healthy and disciplined.

25. Consider Failure as Part of Your Success

You need to understand the fact that you cannot achieve success without failure. Failure makes you more powerful than success

So it is better that you consider failure as a part of your success. Because if you already know something, you can better prepare yourself.

26. Don’t Live With the Mindset of Scarcity

I do not support the scarcity mindset as it undermines your capabilities and limits your views.

During my college, I used to think that a job is the only way to lead a happy life.

And because of this I never thought beyond that, I never tried to do anything different.

I never insisted on taking risks myself and as a result, I was surrounded by things like jobs.

But later I realized that it is all about mindset. If you set your mind to achieve something big, then your life will be in a different direction and this time you will think of learning more, producing more, and achieving more, but not trivial.

Changing your mindset from ‘lack’ to ‘abundance’ can help you take big steps and ultimately help you achieve greatness in your life.

That’s why you need to think so audaciously that it can challenge your abilities and give you a new approach to living your life.
