What Type Of Content You Can Monetize On Facebook

#1. Content that follows Facebook Community Standard

Any content (monetized or non-monetized) on Facebook must follow these community standards. You can’t publish…

  1. Unsafe content
  2. Hate speech
  3. Nudity and graphic violation
  4. Violence and criminal behavior
  5. False news manipulated media
  6. Child sexual exploitation
  7. Copyright or trademark infringement

#2. Content that follows Partner Monetization Policies

Following these partner monetization policies is the best way to make money with your content on Facebook. These policies & rules apply to all content on Facebook pages, groups, and events.

Accordingly…

  1. Not all type of content is eligible for monetizing on Facebook. You can only monetize pages, events, and group content. So if you don’t have a page or group, you can’t monetize your content. (No matter how many people follow your Facebook profile.)
  2. Facebook content monetization is not available in some countries. So make sure to check whether or not you are a resident of an eligible country. (Facebook monetization-eligible countries)
  3. You must follow Facebook community standards to be on the safe side. (I’ve already discussed this above!)
  4. Even if your page is eligible for monetization, It must adhere to Facebook content monetization policies’. (Ex: rules against violent, sexual, criminal, graphic, or profane content.)
  5. Unauthentic, misinformation or false news, sharing clickbait or sensationalistic content is Ineligible to monetize on Facebook. So always share authentic content.
  6. Creator/publisher can only monetize the original content they are involved in. Commentary, parody, and creative editing can’t be monetized.
  7. You can monetize content if it generates natural engagement. Any artificial activity that involves manufactured sharing on telegram/WhatsApp engagement groups to generate fake likes follows, or view counts will not be monetized.
  8. All publishers/creators have to follow Facebook’s Payment Terms.
  9. The content published on the page, group, and events must follow page-specific termsgroup-specific terms, and event-specific terms.
  10. To be eligible for all monetization, you must have a 30-day-old page, a minimum of 10,000 followers, and five 3-minute videos published in the past month with a watch time of over 150,000 1-minute views.
  11. According to Facebook, “Current elected and appointed government officials, who are subject to applicable government ethics are not eligible for monetization features. Current political candidates, parties, and registered political committees, who are subject to applicable election or campaign finance rules, are also not eligible for monetization features. Communications that are regulated as political advertising under applicable law are also ineligible for monetization features.” So follow political and government rules to be eligible for monetization.

#3. Content that follows Content Monetization Policies

  1. You can’t monetize videos containing images with little to no motion.
  2. You can’t use Static image polls and ask people for engagement.
  3. Videos containing slides or moving images with overlaid text are ineligible to monetize.
  4. Videos incentivize people to click a link or respond through a like, comment, or share.
  5. Soliciting content is prohibited (ex: Drugs, tobacco, or alcohol).
  6. You can’t monetize Hacking, Botting, Stream-sniping, tampering, or other similar kinds of cheating behavior on Facebook.
  7. Debated social issues are strictly prohibited (Ex: Race, Gender, National Origin, Age, Political affiliation, Ethnicity, Disability, and Sexual orientation).
  8. Content that talks about Death, Physical injury, mental disabilities, Illness, Physical abuse, Sexual abuse, Emotional abuse, or Property damage is ineligible to monetize.
  9. You’re ineligible to monetize Misleading medical information, Objectionable content like Threats, Advocating for harm, Trafficking, Theft, and Vandalism type content on Facebook.

By complying with the above rules, you can legally monetize your content on Facebook.

But most of the time, you cannot figure out whether or not your content complies with Facebook community & monetization standards. In this case, you can go to your Facebook creator studio to check the eligibility of your page and its monetization status.

1. In-Stream Ads – On Demand

Similar to YouTube, Facebook enables you to monetize your video content using the ‘In-Stream Ads’ feature.

It’s a Facebook monetization tool that uses artificial intelligence to identify the natural breaks and place relevant ads before, during, or after your videos.

You can even choose your placement for personalized ad control on your content. It is the best option to monetize your uploaded videos.

As long as people watch your video, you can make money on Facebook.

Well, it seems pretty easy…Huh?

Yes, it is…

But to make money with in-steam ads on Facebook, you need to qualify for eligibility criteria.

Here it is…

  1. Your page must have a minimum of 10,000 followers
  2. 600,000 eligible minutes of watch time in the last 60 days.
  3. 5 active videos on your page

Besides all, It must follow Facebook community guidelines, Partner monetization policies, and Content monetization policies. (I’ve already discussed this above!)

Once your video content is eligible, Facebook inserts one of the following ad placements to monetize your video –

  1. Pre-roll ads – These ads are shown to a viewer before a video start
  2. Mid-roll ads – These ads are shown to a viewer during a video

An example of an in-stream video ad…

2. Fan Subscriptions

You can create a subscription for your page and earn a monthly recurring income with this monetization method. It’s excellent for individuals or brands with many active followings.
Here is an example of a fan subscription…

Eligibility Criteria

  2. 50,000 post engagements (comments or shares)

Once the fan subscription option is activated, you can set up your subscription plan based on the exclusive content that your page offers. It could be $1, $4.99, or even more, depending on the content and engagement of your page.

Every time you reach the monthly payment threshold of $100, the payments will be transferred to the bank accounts.

The good thing about a fan subscription is that you can predict your monthly earnings and give access to valuable content to your loyal fans.

Note: Fan subscriptions are not available to pages in certain regions.

3. Facebook Instant Articles

You can monetize your blog articles to earn money from Facebook with this feature.

It is an excellent option for bloggers, individuals, and brands who get the most engagement from their Facebook page on their blog.

I used Facebook Instant Articles to monetize my blog traffic. And you, too, can take advantage of it to earn extra money from Facebook.

To begin with, you must have a quality blog and a Facebook page with an active readership.

Next, head to Creator Studio and submit your 10 best articles for review.

Once this is done, you can set up your Facebook ads for content monetization. And submit your content for review.

Refer to this article – https://beginnersblog.org/configure-facebook-instant-article-tools/

Facebook takes 3 – 5 business days to check the quality of your content. It’ll be approved for monetization if it matches Facebook community standards and content monetization policies.

4. Paid Online Events

Have you ever organized an online event on Facebook? Maybe you’ve done this occasionally, especially if you are a business or marketer.

It is a new monetization feature that enables small businesses, marketers, or creators to earn money by hosting events online.

How does it work? You post an online event on your page, set your price, and get paid each time someone wants to attend your event. They have to pay a one-time access fee.

That’s it…

5. In-Stream Ads For Live

Do you often conduct live sessions online? So this is one of the most lucrative ways to earn money on Facebook.

You can add these short ads before or within your live session to earn money on Facebook.

Eligibility criteria to enable In-stream ads for live video content

  1. 10,000 genuine followers on your page.
  2. 600,000 eligible minutes viewed in the last 60 days and over 60,000+ qualified live minutes viewed.
  3. You must have 5 active videos on your page. Out of 5, 3 videos must be live videos.

So if you pass eligibility criteria, including Facebook Community Standards, Partner Monetization Policies, and Content Monetization Policies, you can monetize your upcoming live sessions to earn money online.

6. Stars

This is a new way of monetizing your content on Facebook. It allows viewers to buy stars to send to you during the broadcast. And then Facebook pays you based on the stars you receive.

It is a great monetization tool for someone who has many active followers.

The only downside is that it’s currently invitation-only, which means that you cannot request this feature. Facebook will decide whether you are eligible for this monetization method and let you know if you’re eligible.

If approved, you can activate this feature in Creator Studio and start earning money from Facebook.

7. Brand Collabs Manager

If you love working with brands, this tool makes it even easier to search for paid partnerships.

Companies, individuals, or advertisers use this tool to find promotional opportunities.

It can help you find a paid partnership if you are already eligible for the Brand Collabs Manager feature.

Eligibility criteria to qualify for brand collaboration manager.

  1. You must have 1K followers
  2. You must be the page admin of the page you are submitting
  3. 15,000 post engagements (combining likes, shares, and comments) in the last 60 days
  4. 180,000 minutes viewed
  5. 30,000 – 1 minute views for 3 minutes videos in the previous 60 days.
  6. Your page must be in a Brand Collabs Manager eligible country.
